Access to knowledgeable, respectful, and evidence-based surgical care is an important part of healthcare for many transgender and gender-diverse individuals. Choosing a surgeon is a deeply personal decision, and finding providers who understand the unique needs of the transgender community can make the process feel more supportive and affirming.
The Bridge Alliance Fund believes that everyone deserves access to accurate information and quality healthcare. This resource was created to help individuals and families identify surgeons and surgical centers with experience providing gender-affirming care. While this list is not exhaustive, it offers a starting point for exploring available options.
Please note that every surgeon has their own consultation process, eligibility criteria, insurance policies, and documentation requirements. We try our best to stay up to date on what those requirements are if you have experiences that differ from our understanding of a clinic or there staff please let us know. We encourage contacting each office directly to discuss your individual goals and learn about their current policies.

What to Expect During the Surgical Process
Every surgeon follows their own evaluation process, but many gender-affirming surgical programs may request one or more of the following:
A consultation to discuss your goals and expectations.
Medical clearance from your primary care provider or hormone provider.
One or more mental health/ provider support letters, depending on the procedure.
Documentation of hormone therapy, when appropriate.
Tobacco or nicotine cessation before surgery.
Insurance authorization if utilizing health insurance benefits.
Not every provider requires every item listed above. Requirements vary based on the procedure, surgeon, medical history, and current standards of care.
Additional Resources
There are many qualified gender-affirming surgeons throughout the United States. If you are looking for additional providers, procedure information, or surgeons in other regions, the nationwide directory at TransHealthCare.org offers a comprehensive listing of gender-affirming medical and surgical providers.
The Bridge Alliance Fund encourages individuals to research multiple surgeons, ask questions during consultations, and choose providers who respect their identity, communicate openly, and support informed decision-making. Access to affirming healthcare begins with having reliable information, and we hope this guide helps make that journey a little easier.
